Base pay range Job Description And Duties
The salary ranges listed in this Job Control may not reflect reductions in pay in accordance with the 2025 Personal Leave Program. Under supervision of the Administrator I, Personnel Management Unit (PMU), the Staff Services Analyst (SSA) provides detailed advice and technical guidance to managers and supervisors regarding the least complex and sensitive personnel issues, personnel policy, employee performance management, progressive discipline and non-punitive actions. All work must be accomplished in accordance with civil service laws and rules, bargaining unit contracts, Fair Labor Standards Act, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), California Family Rights Act (CFRA), California Code of Regulations, California Government Code, Americans with Disabilities Act, and California Department of Human Resources (Cal HR).

Excellent customer service skills
Experience providing clerical support and performing clerical work
Proficient in working in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word
Experience in writing and reviewing evaluations
Experience working in public or private sector human resources, such as classification and hiring, progressive discipline, labor relations, etc.
Experience analyzing information, rules and regulations, and providing guidance
Excellent verbal written and verbal communication, strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Experience working in significant workflows and caseload inventory management
Ability to reason well and use good judgment
Experience providing feedback, coaching and mentoring
Ability to collaborate with multiple business areas in an effort to solve complex problems
Ability to shift priorities, workloads, and work schedules to meet deadlines
Self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment
Ability to make sound decisions and produce alternatives when feasible
Creativity and willingness to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, initiative, and accuracy in performing tasks
Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of management
Dependable with excellent time management skills
Ability to develop and conduct training
