Position Summary Adjunct faculty position (part‑time) in the San Diego Community College District (District Wide).
Teaching the optical technician training program.
Work involves lecture and lab instruction with flexible hours and remote or on‑campus classes.
Major Responsibilities
Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
Teach all scheduled lecture and lab classes.
Develop and maintain high‑quality course materials.
Maintain accurate academic records and comply with institutional policies.
Be available to students outside of class for academic support.
Create a learning environment that encourages discussion and critical thinking.
Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and two years of occupational experience related to the course taught, OR
Associate degree and six years of occupational experience related to the course taught, OR
Possession of a full‑time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in the subject matter, or the equivalent.
Desired Qualifications
Certification by the American Board of Opticianry or equivalent.
Certification by the National Contact Lens Examiners or equivalent.
Licenses / Certificates Full‑time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential, or equivalent.
Pay Information Salary determination requires submission of official transcripts and verifications of prior work experience. The initial salary level is at the first class/step until all documentation is received. Click
