Essential Functions

Provides information to store management by recapping promotional activity, reporting business opportunities, results, trends, and competitive information.

Manages controllable costs by educating managers on procedures for controlling merchandise variation, managing salaries, overtime, cash, repair and maintenance costs.

Collaborates with the Marketing team to ensure promotions and new product introductions are fully implemented.

Provides feedback to category managers regarding stock issues.

Partners with vendors to ensure product availability.

Ensures timely execution of monthly promotions.

Ensures vendor performance and professional behavior.

Ensures store operations are profitable by managing cash, merchandise variation, salaries, and other controllable expense lines on the P&L.

Ensures compliance with company policies, procedures and government regulations, including restricted sales policies.

Protects employees, customers and company assets by maintaining a safe and secure workplace, enforcing safety practices, and providing safety communication and training.

Achieves financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.

Provides leadership and direction to store managers, assists with recruitment, selection, and orientation, and supports employee development, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions.

Implements non‑discriminatory management practices during hiring, training, counseling, motivating and separating employees.

Enhances professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networking and professional societies.

Contributes to team effort by achieving financial and key results area targets per Company plan guidelines.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred. Other combinations of job‑related experience and education that meet requirements may be substituted.

3‑5 years of retail business experience (or more) preferred, including a minimum of 2 years of management responsibility.

Experience with MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word preferred.

Demonstrated leadership ability, strong communication skills, self‑directed, self‑motivated and customer‑service oriented.

Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English.

Ability to supervise and train store managers in the use of store equipment, tools and materials, and supervise functions listed in the SM job description.

Current valid driver’s license required to operate company vehicle.

Physical Requirements

Sit for long periods of time.

Operate computer keyboard and mouse for data entry.

View computer monitor.

Hear and speak via telephone.

Reach forward and/or overhead.

Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.

Work Environment

Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate at a normal range.

Lighting includes natural light from outside as well as fluorescent lighting throughout the work areas.

Work with minimum direction and periodic supervision.

Location: Albuquerque, NM.
