Controller – Real Estate & Property Management

Norfolk, VA (Onsite Only) | $110,000 – $140,000 base + discretionary bonus + benefits

We’ve partnered with a growing, privately held real estate and construction company that designs, builds, and manages high-quality multifamily and commercial properties. The company manages the entire lifecycle in‑house—from development to property management—ensuring excellence in every project.

The Controller will oversee all accounting and financial operations across multiple entities, including multifamily properties, development projects, and affiliated hospitality ventures. This position partners directly with the CFO and executive leadership team to drive financial integrity, process improvement, and strategic growth.

Responsibilities

Oversee financial reporting, consolidations, and month‑end closings

Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow across entities

Partner with leadership to enhance systems, reporting, and controls

Ensure GAAP compliance and manage external audits and tax filings

Lead, mentor, and develop a small accounting team

Support real estate and hospitality operations with actionable financial insights

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)

8+ years of accounting experience; 5+ years in a managerial level

Background in real estate, property management, or development

Proficiency in Yardi and QuickBooks required

Experience managing multi‑entity consolidations

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills

Stable career progression (no job‑hopping)
