EXEMPT, 8810 Job Overview : We\'re seeking a coffee-loving sales leader with deep expertise in the consumer-packaged goods industry to join our senior leadership team. In this pivotal role, you\'ll drive revenue growth by shaping and executing our sales strategy across all channels—especially retail—while leading a high-performing team and cultivating strategic customer relationships. Beyond the numbers, we\'re looking for someone who embodies our culture, collaborates with heart, and brings both passion and professionalism to the table. Responsibilities: Executive Leadership :
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, adopt an enterprise view of the business that prioritizes the company’s overarching long-term objectives; develop strong, productive relationships with other leaders of functions; be a great teammate; live the values of Counter Culture and reflect those values out to the marketplace; operate with a sense of total accountability for business performance. Strategic Sales Leadership :
Develop and execute a sales strategy that aligns with our brand and business goals, and the goals of the account. Build a plan that considers geography, strategic account expansion, shelf position, and spending to drive velocity. Identify growth opportunities, assess the competition, and develop targeted sales strategies with focus on price and profit optimization while optimizing trade spend and integrated marketing programs. Set and achieve sales targets and performance metrics for the team. Sales Team Management :
Lead and manage a sales team focused primarily on retail sales across grocery, wholesale, and food service channels. Recruit, develop, and retain top sales talent. Create a team culture of accountability, collaboration, customer focus, and close integration with Marketing. Customer Relationship Management :
Build strong relationships with key executives at current and potential customers, especially in Grocery and Food Service. Use data and insights to build Counter Culture growth narratives for key accounts. Oversee Retail promotional spending to maximize returns, negotiate pricing, contracts, and promos, and maintain customer buy-in to Counter Culture\'s role in the category. Sales Operations & Analysis :
Track sales performance against key metrics, analyze data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, and improve sales processes. Develop and run promo campaigns using sales data and customer behavior. Manage broker and distributor relationships to move the business forward and oversee account profitability. New Market Development :
In partnership with Marketing, allocate ample support to New Growth Initiatives and articulate brand and new product growth opportunities to retailers. Cross-Functional Collaboration :
Work with Finance to develop accurate sales projections and budgets; align sales with brand strategy and long-term growth plans; collaborate with Marketing to develop sales materials based on data; share market insights with Marketing to inform product development and communications. Requirements :
At least 15+ years of experience in the CPG industry, selling into Grocery Retail; proven ability to build go-to-market strategies and growth in grocery and food service channels; experience assessing sales talent and building accountable teams; demonstrated leadership across sales management, pipeline development, account management, price/trade management, and demand planning in partnership with Operations and Marketing. Physical Aspects of this Job : Talking: expressing ideas verbally with clarity and accuracy. Hearing: perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to discern sound details. The physical requirements : Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently to move objects. Sitting most of the time. Working conditions : None. The employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. 90 Day Goals : Attend New Employee Orientation, where applicable. Strong understanding of LEAN, GGOB, B-CORP.
