Base pay range $74,893.00/yr - $96,547.00/yr
This position is located in the D.C. Department of Employment Services (DOES), Division of Tax for the Office of Paid Family Leave (OPFL), Audit Collection Unit. The Department of Employment Services (DOES) mission is to connect District residents, job seekers, and employers to opportunities and resources that empower fair, safe, effective working communities. The mission of the Office of Paid Family Leave is to plan, develop, and administer a paid leave program for the District of Columbia under the provisions of the Universal Paid Leave Amendment Act of 2016 ("Paid Leave Act").
Responsibilities and duties are described below.
Duties And Responsibilities The incumbent serves as a Tax Examiner responsible for performing audits on District employers and self-employed individuals (SEIs), inspecting employer’s financial records for misclassification and unreported wages, determining employer’s liability and adding wages for blocked wage claims, ensuring employers are posting and providing a paid leave program notice to their employees as required under the Act, and investigating fraudulent employer accounts. Reviews and resolves variances between tax and wage data. Processes credits and refunds on employer overpayments, cancels misdirected refund checks and follows up with employers that have aged receivables on a daily basis and invoices employers accordingly. Compiles and prepares documents for employer requested appeals.
Qualifications And Education Specialized Experience:
Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.

Work Conditions/Environment The work is performed in a normal office setting.

Monday-Friday 8:30 am-5:00 pm or Varies

Position Designation:
This position has been designated as Security sensitive therefore the incumbent of this position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC Personnel Regulations, Suitability and as such, incumbents of this position shall be subject to criminal background checks, background investigations, and mandatory drug and alcohol testing, as applicable.
Residency Preference:
Applicants claiming “Residency Preference” will be required to maintain residency in the District of Columbia for a minimum of seven (7) years from the date of employment. You will be required to present documents (proofs) to show District residency and failure to maintain bona-fide District residency for the seven-year (7-year) period will result in forfeiture of employment.
