Overview
Job Summary The position is located in the D.C. Department of Employment Services (DOES), Office of Paid Family Leave (OPFL), Validations Unit. The Department of Employment Services (DOES) mission is to connect District residents, job seekers, and employers to opportunities and resources that empower fair, safe, effective working communities. The mission of the Office of Paid Family Leave is to plan, develop, and administer a paid leave program for the District of Columbia under the provisions of the Universal Paid Leave Amendment Act of 2016 ("Paid Leave Act"). Duties And Responsibilities
Reviews, examines, investigates, develops, and adjudicates the full range of Paid Family Leave claims. Refs cases as authorized to the appropriate office for final adjudication and/or judicial review. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of submitted claims. Escalates claims issues or concerns to senior team members and/or management. Processes assigned claims for payment or denial in accordance with established procedures and guidelines, in a timely manner and meeting departmental quality/production standards. Contacts employer, public officials, and any other necessary parties in the investigation to verify facts and to secure information surrounding wage issues needed to adjudicate claims. Provides superior customer service to internal and/or external stakeholders. Meets customer needs and demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness. Reviews and provides specific information to questions/concerns from internal/external stakeholders. Interviews and assists individuals regarding erroneous claims against the District of Columbia. Makes determinations concerning the claimant’s eligibility or disqualifications to the benefits when necessary. Qualifications And Education
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the CS-9 grade level in the District of Columbia government service obtained from the public or private sector. Specialized experience is experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position and has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position such as but not limited to the knowledge and experience in interview techniques, working knowledge of the Universal Paid Family Leave Act and other related laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines. CS-0998-11 Salary:
$74,893- $96,547; Based on qualifications and funding Collective Bargaining Unit (Union):
This position is covered by AFGE Local 1000 Collective Bargaining Unit. Position Designation:
This position has been designated as Security sensitive therefore the incumbent of this position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC Personnel Regulations, Suitability and as such, incumbents of this position shall be subject to criminal background checks, background investigations, and mandatory drug and alcohol testing, as applicable. Residency Requirement:
Applicants claiming “Residency Preference” will be required to maintain residency in the District of Columbia for a minimum of seven (7) years from the date of employment. You will be required to present documents (proofs) to show District residency and failure to maintain bona-fide District residency for the seven-year (7-year) period will result in forfeiture of employment.
