Senior Electrical Design Engineer - Power Conversion
Job Description This role supports the development of Caterpillar Advanced Power conversion systems within the Electrification and Energy System Division. The Senior Engineer will design and develop power conversion systems for stationary power products, including MW class BESS Inverter, UPS systems, and DC fast chargers for Caterpillar battery powered machines. The products align with Caterpillar's electrification initiatives and expanded offerings. What You Will Do
Design and develop next generation MW class BESS Inverter, 500kVA double conversion UPS, fuel cell inverter, and DC fast chargers for battery powered Caterpillar machines. Meet cost, quality, and performance targets for targeted applications. Provide system and troubleshooting expertise for product support and field follow teams. Provide input to technical leaders regarding future technology development. What You Will Have
Analytical Thinking: ability to analyze and determine root causes and develop solutions. Effective Communications: ability to transmit, receive, and interpret ideas, information, and needs effectively. Managing Multiple Priorities: ability to manage multiple objectives and allocate time effectively. Technical Excellence: ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges. Experience reading and interpreting a variety of schematic types (ladder logic, Creo schematic); interpreting wiring diagrams and schematics and using them to create harnesses; functional understanding of basic electrical controls; deep understanding of harnessing practices and troubleshooting harness issues in a lab environment; experience with product manufacturing from prototype to production. Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: ability to produce, analyze, simulate and test product design drafts. Product Design - MFG: ability to convert customer and market requirements into product design. Product Testing: ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing. Degree Requirement
Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Top Candidates Will Also Have
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering Experience in switchgear design and validation Experience in UPS system design and validation Experience with new product introduction and FMEA based product development Experience working with suppliers and purchasing to introduce a new product to market Caterpillar harnessing experience & experience with Caterpillar IT systems Additional Information
This position is located in Mossville, IL and requires 5 day a week in office availability This position does offer domestic relocation This position does not offer Visa Sponsorship Travel is expected less than 20% of the time About Caterpillar
