The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) is recruiting a cardiovascular surgeon to join a growing, high-volume practice. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside national and international leaders in surgery, education, and research within a collaborative and innovative environment. The division is a regional leader in heart transplantation and ECMO. Opportunity Highlights
Join a collegial team of five adult cardiac surgeons plus a dedicated procurement surgeon. Manageable 1:6 call schedule. Established cardiothoracic surgery residency program. Growing lung transplant program; top heart transplant program. Active participation in TAVR, structural heart, and TEER programs. Responsibilities
Perform a wide variety of complex heart surgery including CABG, valve, multi-valve, and aortic cases. Collaborate with senior surgeons and provide mentorship within an academic medical center setting. Contribute to clinical care and surgical education. Engage with the Center for Heart and Vascular Research, including potential involvement in clinical trials or translational research. Participate in heart transplantation and ECMO programs as part of a growing cardiovascular service line. Qualifications
MD/DO (or equivalent) who is board certified/eligible in cardiovascular surgery. Expertise and primary interest in heart valve disease, including minimally invasive approaches. Excellent clinical skills and a commitment to education. Preferred: experience with transplant and mechanical circulatory support. Required Qualifications
