OptiGrid
Overview
OptiGrid believes in electrification beyond the electrical grid; a world where everyone has access to electric vehicles (EV) fast charging when and where they need it. We build battery-based energy storage systems that provide ultrafast charging for EVs and clean, affordable, resilient power alternatives for site hosts. If you are driven to learn and grow and seek a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make changes in the transportation and energy market, now is the time to join a team that is revolutionizing how power is delivered and utilized. At OptiGrid, we are fundamentally changing the way energy is distributed to electric vehicles, and we are continuing to evolve with a full suite of decentralized energy services accelerating sustainable electrification. To meet our ambitious goals, we are growing rapidly and looking for people who want to make an impact and are willing to challenge the status quo. If you are resilient, think outside the box, and like finding solutions to tough problems, please apply to join our amazing team of innovators, enthusiasts, and change-makers. Responsibilities
Technical Leadership: Own system-level architecture and design of power electronics products (e.g., DC-DC converters, inverters, Battery Management Systems, and other charger components). Guide hardware design across analog/digital, high-voltage, and high-power domains. Ensure system integration between power stage, control and communication systems, thermal management, and mechanical packaging. Manage system-level integration with lab and application testing during product development. Lead product design cycles for new development, design reviews, risk assessments, and root cause analysis. Manage sustaining and field support within the Systems Engineering team. Team leadership
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing EE and Systems Engineering team of 10-12 people. Define team roles, workflows, and best practices for design, simulation, prototyping, and testing. Foster cross-functional collaboration with mechanical, software, test, and manufacturing teams. Program & project ownership
Manage engineering deliverables across multiple projects, ensuring quality, timelines, and cost goals, while collaborating with a Program Manager tracking the timeline. Coordinate with supply chain and manufacturing teams to support prototype and production builds. Lead a compliance effort with relevant safety UL and CSA standards. Innovation & strategy
Scout and evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., SiC/GaN semiconductors, digital control, custom magnetics, thermal, etc.). Contribute to the strategic roadmap for product and technology development. Represent the company in technical discussions with customers, partners, and stakeholders. Qualifications
Must-Haves Bachelor’s or master’s in electrical engineering, Power Electronics, or related field Minimum 10+ years of experience leading technical teams in power systems engineering in a hardware or embedded systems environment Proven track record of designing and shipping power conversion products (10 kW+ systems) Experience with design tools (e.g., PLECS, LTspice, Altium, MATLAB/Simulink) Experience with hardware test systems, embedded devices, and low-level troubleshooting Experience in product development from inception to mass production Strong understanding of hardware/software integration and product release processes Magnetics design and thermal management Embedded systems and digital control Startup mindset — hands-on, fast-moving, solutions-oriented Nice-to-Haves Experience working with or managing contract manufacturers (CMs) Familiarity with embedded development environments, flashing tools, and OTA update systems Exposure to compliance or certification processes (FCC, UL, etc.) Benefits
