This position serves our partners at Minnesota’s largest state agency, the Department of Human Services (DHS). The MNIT DHS team supports complex and varied technical needs, including systems that provide health care coverage, deliver child protection and welfare services, and provide support for Minnesotans with special needs including mental illness, chemical dependencies, and physical or developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities As the MN-ITS System Administrator, you will provide expert consultation, technical leadership, and hands-on support for the configuration, deployment, and management of complex application and middleware technologies that support the MN-ITS systems. You will help ensure reliable operation of mission-critical, integrated systems in a 24/7/365 environment by leading code deployments, troubleshooting high-impact issues, and optimizing performance across multiple platforms including IBM WebSphere, Oracle, MQ, and Azure-based infrastructure. You will maintain stable, secure, and functional real-time services for DHS programs to avoid systems being compromised.

Minimum Qualifications Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume.

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of experience installing, customizing, and testing applications in a middleware environment.

Experience with IBM Products, specifically WebSphere Application Server (WAS) and/or Message Queue (MQ).

Experience with adapters and clients for MQ Series, WAS, Oracle Databases, IP socket, and HTTP connectors.

Troubleshooting and correcting transaction processing issues.

Working with Java applications and operating systems such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux or other Linux variants.

Working with LAN communication protocols including FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, FTPS, SFTP, SSH, NTP, and TCP/IP.

Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.

Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

A master’s degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with IBM Products, specifically WebSphere Application Server (WAS), Business Automation Workflow (BAW), App Connect Enterprise (ACE), Message Queue (MQ), Managed File Transport (MFT), Information Transformation Extender (ITX).

Experience with Healthcare x.12 standards, data structures, translator mapping principles, and extensive EDI administration.

Experience using WebSphere Business Process Choreographer (WBPC).

Effective analysis, listening, and research skills.

Ability to manage workflows and methods.

Ability to work with a diverse team, resolve interpersonal conflict, motivate and develop team members, and influence stakeholders and key decision-makers.
