Director of School Age Child Care

Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and in accordance with the mission and purpose of the YMCA, the Director of School Age Child Care is responsible for oversight and direct supervision of the School Age Childcare Program to assure safe nurturing and enrichment programs within the BASIS program in accordance with the philosophy and mission of the Hamilton Area YMCA as well as state and local licensing requirements. Responsibilities
Supervises the School Age Care Team to assure a safe environment for children by conducting regular facility audits and reporting/resolving potential hazards immediately. Develops and implements the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development overall curriculum plan for School Age Care Programs. Effectively utilizes Assistant Directors, coordinators, supervisors, and site assistants to create an efficient and resourceful work environment. Assists in the planning and supervision of special events for School Age Child Care programs. Works with Assistant Directors to conduct regular visits to all school age programs (minimum of 2 times per month) and documents visits and assessments. Collaborates with the Director of Recruitment and Staff Development to develop strategies on recruitment, hiring, training, and retaining quality childcare staff. Plans and conducts staff training for all childcare staff. Responds to risk management issues and completes incident reports within 24 hours. Maintains administrative details of related programs, including logistics and scheduling; completes paperwork such as schedules, inventories, lesson plans, evaluations, and surveys; maintains accurate statistics. Ensures payments and reconciliations are accurate and develops and monitors the program budget to meet fiscal objectives. Works with Marketing to promote childcare programs and educate parents on childcare, safety, and enrollment objectives as outlined in the budget. Responds to parent, participant, and staff needs in a timely and professional manner. Participates in annual fundraising and special events; attends staff meetings, trainings, and professional development as needed. Communicates information effectively to program staff and parents of enrolled children. Works with the Director of Camp and YD to form and regularly cultivate a childcare age parent committee. Complies with all NJ State Licensing standards and performs duties in a safe and efficient manner. Performs other related duties as assigned and remains flexible with work schedules and assignments as needed. Represents the Hamilton Area YMCA with professionalism, confidentiality, courtesy, fairness, integrity, and respect for others. Qualifications
Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred; experience in budget development/monitoring; two (2) years previous work experience in a Director or Department Leadership role Skills And Abilities
Communication, program evaluation, statistical analysis, organization, computer and planning skills, as well as relational skills, integrity, flexibility, the ability to focus in the midst of commotion, and a proven track record of developing authentic relationships Quality & Leadership Competencies
