MRI Technologist - Up to $20,000 Sign On Bonus Under general supervision of the MRI Manager, Medical Imaging and Lead MRI Technologists for the MRI Division, operates an MRI unit and related equipment to produce MR images of designated anatomical areas. Collects and completes records on patient data and equipment operation. Provides assistance to patients and radiologists, troubleshoots minor equipment problems, and performs calibration tests and other quality control functions. All essential functions reflect the age-specific needs of geriatric, adult, and pediatric patients. Responsibilities

Understand and practice safety principles regarding strong magnetic fields as per MRI Magnetic Field Safety Guidelines. Prepare and test the MRI unit for daily operation; recognize, report, and troubleshoot equipment problems per department guidelines and vendor assistance. Screen all patients, visitors, and non-MRI personnel prior to entry into MRI zones 3 & 4 and obtain radiologist approval when necessary. Assess patient condition and cooperation to determine ability to comply with and tolerate MRI exams. Select proper technical factors, adjust and apply appropriate parameters on an individual patient basis. Verify and/or obtain informed consent for examinations requiring consent. Record, obtain and communicate medical history needed to complete the study (including labs such as creatinine for eGFR) and assess the need for radiologist approval for contrast; calculate eGFR and obtain approval for contrast when necessary. Calculate and administer contrast per department guidelines and dosage charts. Position patients for imaging to obtain satisfactory examinations and perform requested procedures; protect and immobilize patients per safety standards. Operate a wide range of technical equipment (computers, RF and gradient coils, power injectors, monitoring, etc.) to produce MRI images. Perform complex imaging of cross-sectional, multi-planar MR images and recognize normal anatomy. Prepare, label, and QC images for radiologist interpretation, ensuring correct laterality, contrast, tech ID, and image weighting. Assist radiologists with implementing new protocols; participate in in-service education and clinical instruction of students and new staff. Maintain knowledge of latest MRI developments and nursing procedures (sterile technique, infection control). Assist with discharge instructions following MR exams/procedures; observe departmental, state, local, and federal regulations; maintain ethical conduct and uphold imaging standards. Maintain a clean, orderly work area and perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

In-depth knowledge of MRI technology; must be registered and in good standing with ARRT or ARMRIT, with MRI certification through ARRT (new grads may obtain within 90 days of hire). Current BLS Certification from AHA, BLS for Healthcare Providers. Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, staff and physicians. Experience or successful completion of an accredited MRI program with a minimum of 1200 clinical hours; ix months of recent MRI Technologist experience preferred. Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Healthcare setting with direct patient contact; exposure to high magnetic fields and RF; ability to meet safety procedures and wear protective equipment. Ability to obtain basic vital signs, insert and remove IVs for contrast administration, and assist with IM injections per radiologist instructions. Ability to hear verbal requests, crouch, reach, lift, and position MR coils and equipment; ability to move patients and assist with transfers. Pay and Benefits

$38.93 - $63.74 Sign-On:
