Overview
INFORMATION SPECIALIST III AND IV - OAHU (OHHI) is a recruitment for the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, State of Hawaiʻi. This continuous recruitment is conducted under the Operation Hire Hawaii (OH-HI) project with an expedited hiring process. Applications will be reviewed for Legal Authorization to work in the United States, and eligible applicants may be referred for an initial departmental review and interview.
Duties Summary
Plans and conducts a public informational program for one of the larger State agencies to inform the general public or special interest groups about the agency’s activities; prepares a full range of informational materials for dissemination; and performs other duties as required. Duties may involve dissemination of information through multiple media channels and ongoing public outreach.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Legal Authorization to Work Requirement: The State of Hawaiʻi requires all persons seeking government employment to be United States citizens, nationals, permanent resident aliens, or eligible for unrestricted employment under federal law.
Basic Education/Experience:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
Level III – General Experience:
Two years of professional work in information research and dissemination or public relations, including analysis and writing for presentations, publications, or news releases, and experience with multiple communication methods to reach target audiences. Ability to edit materials and maintain effective relationships.
Level III – Specialized Experience:
Ability to organize, plan, and conduct a program to disseminate information.
Level IV – General Experience:
Two years of professional work in information research and dissemination or public relations (as described above).
Level IV – Specialized Experience:
One year of experience organizing, planning, and conducting a program to disseminate information about an organization’s activities to the public or stakeholders, including dissemination through multiple media on a continuous basis (e.g., television, radio, newspapers, publications).
Driver's License:
Some positions require a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment; the immediate vacancy has this requirement.

Salary and Benefits
Information Specialist III:
$4,961 to $6,043 per month (SR-20, Step D to I) Information Specialist IV:
$5,369 to $6,535 per month (SR-22, Step D to I)
