Overview
The Regenerative Organic Farming Manager is a hands-on position responsible for farming production for the Léal hospitality group. Our 4-acre farm provides healthy and fresh organic produce for the restaurants and venues within the Léal hospitality group. The Regenerative Organic Farming Manager oversees all day-to-day farm operations and works to achieve the company’s objectives in the production of vegetables, herbs, fruit, flowers, honey, and eggs, while also maintaining the farm property. The Regenerative Organic Farmer Manager’s responsibilities include developing our farm, crops, and livestock, purchasing supplies, and ensuring maximum yield. The Regenerative Organic Farming Manager will grow, tend, and harvest high-quality produce according to regenerative organic agricultural practices. They will oversee the care of fruit and vegetable crops, herbs, annual and perennial flowers, as well as associated record keeping, in addition to routine maintenance and upkeep of farm equipment and facilities. Base pay range: $70,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr Base pay range
$70,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr Responsibilities
Manage and oversee all farm operations, including vineyards, row crops, labor, etc. Performs field tasks, including potting, propagation, bed preparation, planting, watering, irrigation repair, weeding, mulching, irrigation, composting, fertilizing, spraying, pest/disease management, seed collecting, sowing, thinning, harvesting, and packing. Design planting layouts, oversee planting calendar, cultivate a wide variety of annual vegetables, troubleshoot pest and disease issues, fertilize and amend soil, harvest produce, and repair irrigation systems Install and shift irrigation systems to irrigate fields evenly or according to crop needs Ensure retail displays are stocked at the restaurant and ensure retail products and displays are placed out at the correct time, with each item labeled, fresh, and presentable Manage all food sales compliance, including egg sales Manage a consistent weekly schedule Manage inventory for gardens and hospitality venues Implement and maintain an annual work plan with seasonal timelines and weekly task lists Operate, maintain, and perform minor repairs of farm tools, equipment, facilities, and infrastructure on a regular basis Coordinate deliveries of produce to venues within the portfolio in a timely manner. Monitor all service levels and deliveries to ensure the best efficiencies Create and maintain a positive, safe, and effective work environment Recommend measures to improve operational practices and the quality of the product Consistent, thorough, and timely communication with peers and management Participates in meetings with other departments as requested Other projects and tasks as assigned by management Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, And Competences
Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English at a basic level Must be highly responsible & reliable Must possess and maintain a current California Driver's License with a satisfactory and safe driving record Must have at least one year of direct experience with organic gardening and/or farming methods and practices. Facilities maintenance, landscaping, and/or construction experience preferred You must be comfortable with organic pest management and soil-building strategies. In addition, you should be fluent in crop rotation for seasonality and soil health The ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, push/pull, crouch, crawl, reach with hands and arms, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills, with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills Flexible schedule to include weekends, holidays, and extended hours as business needs arise Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team with minimum supervision Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating instructions and procedure manuals Ability to write simple reports and business correspondence Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, vendors, & other employees Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals Ability to calculate rates, discounts, interest, percentages, etc. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, & ratios to practical situations Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations Please visit our website for more information about our beautiful and growing hospitality portfolio: www.liveloveleal.com Additional information
