Overview Bunderkin: The Curse of the Ocular Eclipse is a stylized narrative adventure being developed by Studio Zubio — a boutique animation and tech-art studio known for its work with Google and other creative partners. The game combines hilarious storytelling, environmental exploration, and light puzzle mechanics set in the whimsical valley of Bunder Hollow. We’re looking for an Unreal Engine 5 Developer (Environment + Systems Integration) to help bring the world of Bunder Hollow to life — integrating gameplay systems, world logic, and environment interactions into a cohesive and performant experience.

Responsibilities

Implement and integrate core gameplay systems with environmental logic (triggers, interactables, day/night cycles, puzzle states, etc.).

Collaborate with art and design teams to build and optimize playable levels using Unreal Engine 5 tools (World Partition, Nanite, Lumen).

Connect environment assets, lighting setups, and blueprints into functional gameplay sequences and exploration zones.

Author or extend Blueprint and C++ tools to streamline environment setup and iteration for designers.

Manage scene performance, LODs, and streaming volumes to ensure smooth play across platforms.

Support integration of cinematics, dialogue triggers, and camera transitions into the game world.

Troubleshoot and refine gameplay-environment interfaces (interaction logic, state tracking, and level persistence).

Requirements

3+ years experience with Unreal Engine 4 or 5, ideally on shipped or prototype games.

Proficient in Blueprints and comfortable writing or reading C++.

Strong understanding of level streaming, gameplay framework, and Unreal’s component systems.

Experience working with environment art and technical setups (collision, lighting, physics, materials).

Ability to collaborate cross-discipline — integrating art, design, and code seamlessly.

Passion for stylized worlds, narrative design, and building interactive, living spaces.

Bonus Skills

Familiarity with Sequencer, camera scripting, and cinematic integration

Experience with data-driven systems (DataTables, Gameplay Tags, etc.).

Knowledge of Niagara or material-driven VFX triggers.

Comfort optimizing assets and logic for indie-scale performance targets.

You’ll Fit Here If...

You thrive in small, creative teams where everyone wears multiple hats.

You enjoy bridging art and code — making the game world feel alive.

You’re excited to contribute ideas and help shape how a world is built, explored, and felt.
