The salary listed for this position does not include the 5% premium pay for positions based in King County.

Purpose of the Role As a Revenue Auditor 2 (or Revenue Auditor 2 In‑Training), you will conduct audits of businesses to ensure compliance with Washington State tax laws. You will travel within your region, observe business operations, evaluate accounting records, and provide education on tax laws and compliance. You will prepare audits, use advanced Excel functions to analyze data, and collaborate with senior auditors to document findings. You may also participate in team audits of large, complex engagements and manage a broad variety of business types including manufacturers, financial institutions, contractors, healthcare providers, and more.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct audits of businesses, affiliates, and subsidiaries to ensure correct tax remittance.

Travel regionally to observe and understand business operations and accounting records.

Apply audit standards, use advanced Excel techniques, prepare audit findings, and document results.

Receive per diem reimbursement for travel and expenses.

Train with senior auditors, participate in team audits, and develop independent audit skills.

Maintain professional knowledge of tax laws and audit requirements.

Knowledge of Accounting Principles and Tools

Basic understanding of accounting principles, including financial statements, general ledgers, and journal entries.

Experience using Excel functions and formulas to organize, analyze, and summarize data.

Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Research, Analysis, and Problem Solving

Apply intermediate analytical skills to solve problems and reach conclusions.

Synthesize data into fundamental issues and manageable components.

Research, interpret, and apply federal and state tax laws to determine correct tax reporting.

Planning and Organization

Manage multiple assignments or projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion.

Adjust organization, priority, and time management to meet deadlines.

Communication (Written and Verbal)

Convey complex information in clear terms for understanding and agreement.

Conduct professional conversations, including delivering unfavorable outcomes when necessary.

Write clear, professional written communications.

Adaptability

Remain open to changing ideas, responsibilities, and strategies.

Work autonomously while collaborating within a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Four or more years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, tax compliance, or tax administration.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting.

24 semester or 36 quarter hours of college‑level accounting.

Demonstrated professional experience in the required competencies.
