Overview

PlayOn is hiring a Director of Accounting to standardize, scale and automate core accounting operations. You’ll own the monthly close cadence, streamline AP and GL processes, and drive NetSuite automation to support continued growth. You will lead a small, high-performing team of 6 across AP, cash, GL, fixed assets, intercompany consolidations, and payroll; report to the Chief Accounting Officer and partner closely with FP&A and the People Ops Team. Responsibilities

Lead a small team across AP, cash, GL, fixed assets, intercompany consolidations, and payroll; standardize workflows, tighten controls and improve working-capital visibility. Own the monthly close (GL, accruals, intercompany, consolidations) and process documentation. Run AP end-to-end (vendor onboarding, W-9/1099 readiness, 3-way match policy, disbursement controls). Oversee the Payroll Manager: calendars, approvals, change control, multi-state compliance, benefits/401(k)/garnishments, and coordinate HR dataflow. Optimize NetSuite (COA, workflows/approvals, roles/permissions, saved searches, SuiteAnalytics); support sandbox testing and change control. Partner with FP&A on spend visibility and working-capital forecasting. Qualifications

Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance. 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with 5+ years leading teams and the monthly close in a growth or multi-entity environment. Hands-on NetSuite expertise (workflows, saved searches; implementation experience a plus). Multi-state payroll oversight experience (ADP/Paylocity/UKG), including taxes, benefits, and controls. Proven track record accelerating the close, reducing manual work, and implementing automation across AP/AR/GL. High integrity, detail orientation, and a continuous-improvement mindset. Clear communicator who can translate accounting into simple, actionable guidance for non-finance partners. How You Play

Ownership over Participation – You take responsibility for achieving holistic outcomes, prioritize key objectives, and adapt quickly when situations require a different approach. You follow through even against the toughest challenges. Team over Stars – You are a bridge builder, establishing processes and relationships with teams outside your own. You work to rally around common goals, find win-win solutions, compromise when necessary, and help others succeed. Growth over Comfort – You are driven by a desire to grow and actively seek opportunities to expand your comfort zone, skills, and confidence. You embrace new challenges with curiosity, accepting discomfort and failure as opportunities to learn. Fairness over Popularity – You approach decisions with a scientist’s mindset, challenging your assumptions and remaining objective. You consider long-term impact rather than relying on short-term gains, proactively seek others’ perspectives, and manage emotions in decision-making. Company Overview
