Role Description The Accounting Manager oversees the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all financial activities. This role is hands-on and ideal for someone who can manage details while also improving processes and supporting company growth. This is an on-site role based in Westport, CT. Candidates must be able to reliably commute to our office; relocation assistance is not available. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, adaptable, and comfortable working with numbers. They should be capable of managing multiple priorities and confident interacting with both vendors and customers. We’re looking for someone who learns quickly, communicates well, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Key Responsibilities
Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and commissions Maintain and reconcile inventory records and related payables Prepare and review monthly financial statements, cash flow reports, budgets, and forecasts Manage the chart of accounts, post journal entries, and perform account and bank reconciliations Coordinate with external accountants for audits, income statements, tax filings, and year-end procedures Prepare and file sales and personal property tax returns Maintain accurate and organized financial records Manage cash activity including deposits, wire transfers, ACH transactions, credit card purchases, and inter-company transfers Develop and enhance accounting procedures and internal controls Support management with financial analysis, reporting, and special projects Supervise and mentor accounting staff Qualifications
Extensive experience reconciling balance sheet and income statement accounts, including accruals, prepaid expenses, and depreciation Strong understanding of business operations as reflected through the general ledger Knowledge of inventory accounting and reconciliation, with the ability to identify and make necessary adjustments Experience preparing and filing sales tax, use tax, and year-end 1099 forms Thorough understanding of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions Skilled in performing bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate cash records Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with accounting software preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills Attention to detail and high level of accuracy Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5-7 years of accounting experience CPA or equivalent certification is a plus Seniority level
