Overview
English - Adjunct Instructor (Online) role at Texas State Technical College (TSTC). This is an evergreen requisition to collect resumes and expressions of interest for future opportunities. Must be a resident of Texas. Responsibilities
Deliver approved curriculum, content, and assessments in an applied learning environment. Facilitate activities and discussions that engage a range of learning styles with targeted guidance and mentorship to students. Interpret and administer assessments, and offer constructive feedback to support student growth and learning outcomes. Integrate technology effectively to enrich the educational experiences. Act as an ambassador for their program and TSTC. Fulfll assigned schedule, maintain accurate student records, and ensure a safe instructional environment; emphasize equipment security where applicable. Provide advisement to students with timely, accurate information; collaborate with the Office of Student Success to promote tutoring and programs that increase retention. Participate in recruitment-related activities and assist in department/program planning for recruitment. Demonstrate willingness to provide service, maintain professionalism with students, parents, employers, and the community; be flexible for evening, weekend, or summer assignments; work effectively in a team; uphold the college’s mission and values. Convey core competencies for direct instructional delivery in an applied learning environment, including instructional delivery, mentorship, assessment and feedback, and technology integration. Required Skills, Knowledge, And Certifications Or Licenses
Meet with students at scheduled times to facilitate student learning and success. Knowledge of collaborative software (Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, Zoom). Knowledge of Learning Management Systems and online instruction pedagogy. Oral and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and be on time for meetings, appointments, training, etc. Preferred Skills, Knowledge, And Certifications Or Licenses
Experience with online instruction. Experience with competency-based education. Experience with non-traditional F2F teaching methods. Experience with Canvas LMS. Experience with Simple Syllabus. Experience with Workday. Adaptable to new teaching and learning styles. Three years of teaching in the discipline. Education And Experience
Doctorate or master’s degree in English or master’s degree with a concentration in English (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in English). Notes
