Responsibilities
Provides complex (journey-level) educational activities and services to state hospital employees; serves as subject matter expert on provision of services to clients. Develops, plans, conducts, and evaluates educational and training programs/opportunities in new pre-service training, annual refresher training, and on-the-job training; tracks and ensures accuracy of hospital curriculum. Ensures employees are effectively trained in core and specialty competencies; maintains training records and uses the training software to maintain and report training compliance; tracks training for all state hospital employees. Maintains survey readiness for the department; works under general supervision with moderate latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Performs other duties as assigned, including disaster response and Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation; may require alternate shift pattern or location. Attends work regularly and may be required to work specific or rotating shifts; conducts training and maintains a positive learning environment; teaches core mandatory classes and local trainings to new hires and existing employees annually; assesses competency after training. Ensures training rosters are entered into the PeopleSoft system and monitors hospital compliance; maintains monthly delinquent lists and reconciles with spreadsheets to track requirements; sends reminders to ensure timely completion. Serves as the FCTD curriculum coordinator and SME to update curriculum with policy changes; develops new training; participates in hospital committees to implement local training. Monitors participant behavior during training and documents issues; supports supervisors in addressing situations. Maintains certifications to teach courses (e.g., CPR, TIPS); may include training such as Van Driver Training. Demonstrates organizational skills to manage training rosters and files; keeps documentation survey-ready and ensures timely access to training records. Uses PeopleSoft TIMS for documentation and reporting; able to learn software and perform basic computer tasks. Performs other duties as assigned to support disaster, COOP, and department needs, including backfilling roles as required. Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required. Two years of professional teaching may substitute for a degree; teaching in adult education preferred. Two years of experience in the mental health field preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; ability to enter and track large data sets and use databases; ability to work in a team and with individuals from diverse backgrounds; experience with mental illness preferred. Registrations, Licensure, Certifications: Position must obtain CPR, TIPS, and PiCert within six (6) months of hire. Initial Screening Criteria: Ability to pass background checks, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks; must be at least 18 years old (Waco Center for Youth may require 21); selectice service for males 18-25. Immunization compliance required; travel up to 15% may be required; ability to work flexible hours; E-Verify and I-9 on first day. Additional Information
