Territory Manager, Surgical Pain - Baltimore, DC Metro, Northern VA
Overview Avanos Medical is seeking a Territory Manager for Surgical Pain covering Baltimore, the DC Metro area, and Northern Virginia. This role reports to the Regional Sales Manager and requires up to 50% travel, including overnights. Territory: Baltimore, MD; Covering: DMV Area Essential Duties And Responsibilities Meet or exceed sales objectives for Surgical Pain products, including On-Q and Ambit Pump Pumps. Develop and maintain relationships with surgeons, physicians, therapists, nurses, clinicians, department decision makers and/or administrators within assigned accounts or markets. Be present during surgical procedures to answer product-related questions in an OR setting. Close new sales opportunities and generate new customer leads while protecting existing market share. Be in the field at least 4.5 days each week communicating with current and potential customers. Develop and execute strategies to achieve business objectives. Actively participate with the Regional Manager in strategic and tactical planning. Sales positioning, analysis, and in-servicing of product categories addressing customers’ pain points. Implement business and selling activities required to meet objectives. Drive contract management, including local price negotiations. Demonstrate deep clinical knowledge and understanding of effective medical device sales. Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field At least four years of demonstrated sales success, with at least two years in medical sales calling on surgeons, hospitals and ASCs At least one year of operating room experience Understanding of hospital/ASC buying processes including the roles of GPOs, IDNs, and Distributors Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement methodologies (fee-for-service, value-based care, and alternative payment methods) Strategic thinking and ability to challenge status quo Strong verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills Effective time management and prioritization Ability to travel up to 50%, including overnights Experience with PC-based applications (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Deep understanding of medical terminology and clinical practices Evidence of continued personal and professional growth Ability to lead in the face of ambiguity Persistence to achieve long-term objectives Preferred B2B selling experience Surgical case experience Experience with musculoskeletal products (ortho, spine, trauma, sports medicine) Track record of success covering large territories as an individual contributor Demonstrated market development and growth Salary Range The anticipated base pay range is $70,000.00 – $130,000.00. This role is eligible for an incentive compensation program and benefits. Pay ranges may vary by location.
