Overview

Correctional Food Service Officer I, II, III (Statewide) is a statewide role with responsibilities in food production and service within NC Department of Adult Correction. The position supports the care, custody, and supervision of adults sentenced for violations of North Carolina laws. The organization includes state prisons, healthcare, facility operations, and the division of Community Supervision. Responsibilities

Supervise offenders in assigned food preparation and food service work areas, including cooking, baking, and serving food to the offender population. Provide food production training while supervising offenders in large-scale food production and food service activities. Ensure proper maintenance of all food service equipment and adherence to menu specifications. Maintain sanitary food handling practices and apply knowledge of nutritional values to meal planning and preparation. Manage inventory levels of food and supplies, rotate stock as needed, and coordinate timely ordering of food products and cleaning supplies. Communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms to support operational success. Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience per level: Correctional Food Service Officer I: High school diploma or GED and one year of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a commercial food service operation, or as a Correctional Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Correctional Food Service Officer II: High school diploma or GED and two years of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a commercial food service operation, or as a Correctional Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Correctional Food Service Officer III: High school diploma or GED and three years of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a commercial food service operation, or as a Correctional Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission. Additional Details

Salary ranges by classification: Correctional Food Service Officer I: $32,639 - $57,117 Correctional Food Service Officer II: $34,270 - $59,973 Correctional Food Service Officer III: $35,984 - $62,971 This position may be eligible for sign-on bonuses and referral bonuses as described in the official policy postings.
