Correctional Food Service Officer I, II, III (Statewide) NOW ELIGIBLE FOR A $3,000 SIGN ON BONUS! Hires with a start date prior to July 1, 2025 are eligible for a $7,000 Sign On Bonus. Salary Range by Classification: Correctional Food Service Officer I: $32,639 - $57,117 Correctional Food Service Officer II: $34,270 - $59,973 Correctional Food Service Officer III: $35,984 - $62,971 Responsibilities
Supervise offenders performing large-scale food production and food service operations at a correctional facility. Supervise the food preparation and cleanup team within the food service department, prioritizing effective verbal and written communication, adherence to instructions, and accurate data management. Maintain all food service equipment and ensure understanding of menu specifications. Ensure sanitary food handling practices and knowledge of nutritional values to contribute to meal planning and preparation quality. Manage inventory levels of food and supplies, rotate stock, and ensure timely ordering of food products and cleaning supplies. Oversee the dual role of supervising offenders and providing food production training in cooking, baking, and serving food to the offender population. Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Correctional Food Service Officer I: High school diploma or GED and one year of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, experience in management of a commercial food service operation, or as a Correctional Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Correctional Food Service Officer II: High school diploma or GED and two years of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a commercial food service operation, or as a Correctional Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Correctional Food Service Officer III: High school diploma or GED and three years of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a commercial food service operation, or as a Correctional Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission. Notes: Some state job postings say you can qualify by an "equivalent combination of education and experience."
