JMHC aims to be a leader in specialized behavioral health services, prioritizing fairness and inclusivity. The organization serves families, children and youth, people with addiction challenges, unhoused and economically disadvantaged community members, people in crisis, and multilingual communities across Dane County. The President & Chief Executive Officer will lead JMHC with a balance of mission and sustainability, responsibility for strategy, overall operations, and financial performance. The CEO will uphold a culture that values people, opportunities, community, and access for all, and will bring deep experience with complex funding sources—public and private—driving a behavioral health organization in Wisconsin. The CEO will guide the organization, support senior leaders and care teams, explore revenue and service expansion, and serve as the face of JMHC in the community to stakeholders and officials. The role requires strong organizational leadership, communication, advocacy, and a client-centered approach, with the ability to lead through change and drive a sustainable future in partnership with leadership and the board. Develop collaborative relationships and advocate externally as the outward-facing representative of JMHC with community partners, focusing on positive outcomes and efficiency. Regularly assess program and service effectiveness and collaborate with staff to enhance operations to meet a growing and diverse population. Partner with the leadership team to empower them with necessary resources and support. Provide oversight of financial operations, including annual budgeting, monitoring performance against budgets, and reporting to the Board and outside agencies. Foster a robust partnership with the Board of Directors with transparency and timely communication. Oversee fund development planning and implementation, identify funding sources, and develop relationships with donors; oversee grant writing and applications. Provide thoughtful leadership, mentorship, professional development, and constructive feedback to staff. Recruit and hire key managers and drive performance and retention in coordination with the HR leader. Qualifications and Skills

Minimum of ten years of successful experience in a key management role in a healthcare, mental health, and/or human services organization, including at least three years of responsibility for financial and programmatic outcomes. Track record of leading operational strategies and policies that show growth during leadership tenure. Extensive knowledge of the financial aspects of running a diverse, outcome-oriented healthcare organization. Understanding of nonprofit business strategy, including organizational development, leadership development, succession planning, and organizational design. Experience securing grants and major gifts, with understanding of fundraising timelines and diverse revenue sources. Experience managing government grant financials. Ability to build and maintain an effective board, with transparent communication. Experience collaborating with social and human service partners, education organizations, and community stakeholders toward shared goals. Ability to serve as the public face of JMHC and speak in public forums and with the media. Must reside in Greater Madison and be able to work in the west side office most days.
