Chief Financial Officer Responsibilities The Chief Financial Officer will manage and oversee the financial activities of the company, direct the preparation of detailed financial reports and summaries to inform the Chief Executive Officer, and work with the executive team to prepare financial forecasts for presentation to strategic partners and/or investors. This will include further development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.
The preferred candidate will:
Partner with the CEO and executive team on the strategic vision
Oversee all Accounting & Finance activity, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing and payroll, budget preparation, revenue/expense reports, and audit functions.
Direct preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, management reports, shareholder/member reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
Compare sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; makes or oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
Monitoring contract funding/spending status, project estimate-to-complete, and financial closing as requested
Create and oversee detailed financial projections for fund raising activities and risk management and ensure adequate cash flow to meet the organization's needs
Oversee investment of funds and works with private sources and investment bankers to raise additional capital required for growth.
Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization and oversee federal awards and programs, and monitor banking activities of the organization
Provide assistance with DCAA audits, annual government audits and other internal and external compliance audits to ensure that all records are accurate and up to date.
Ensure adequate controls are installed and that substantiating documentation is approved and available such that all purchases may pass 3rd party and governmental audits
Work with CEO and Project Managers to ensure programmatic success through cost analysis, and compliance with all contractual requirements
Oversee coordination and activities of 3rd party auditors ensuring all audit issues are resolved, and all compliance issues are met
Investigate cost-effective benefit plans and other fringe benefits which the organization may offer employees and potential employees with the goal of attracting and retaining qualified people and positively impacting the community
Oversee maintenance of the inventory of all fixed assets, including assets purchased with government funds (computers, etc.) assuring all are in accordance with federal regulations
Analyze operations to identify areas in need of reorganization, upsizing, or expansion;
Work with CEO and executives to coordinate planning and establish priorities for the planning process; reviews planning process and suggests improvements to current methods.
Co-ordinate with Project Managers to automate key financial processes and implement ERP system for financial activities.
Participate in meetings and discussions regarding contracts and negotiations.
Requirements The preferred candidate will possess:
Master's degree in accounting or business administration
10+ years' experience in a senior financial managerial position in Manufacturing, Semiconductor Chips, Electronics or Government Contracts industry
Experience with fundraising, private equity, sale or acquisition, or corporate restructuring.
Strong financial and accounting background, including a deep understanding of profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow management and general finance and budgeting
Strategic thinker with ability to develop a long-term strategy while balancing near-term priorities
Demonstrated ability to implement positive change in a dynamic and growing organization
Proficient in financial and accounting practices and related computer applications.
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
