This is a full‑time teleworking position with the expectation to work from our office location in Millersville, MD on occasion.
Who You Are
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, or related field.
Minimum of two years’ experience in content creation, digital communications, and/or nonprofit marketing.
Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to tailor content to different audiences.
Familiarity with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress) and email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact or Mailchimp).
Knowledge of basic SEO principles and digital accessibility standards.
Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
Experience using design platforms such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite, preferred.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Teams, Word, Excel, and Adobe.
Collaborative mindset and ability to translate technical or policy‑related content into compelling stories.
What You Will Do
Develop clear, consistent, and brand‑aligned messaging across all communication channels – email, website, intranet, social media, newsletters, blogs, press releases.
Interview clients and stakeholders to develop impact stories and testimonials.
Translate complex programmatic or policy‑related information into clear, engaging, plain language for diverse audiences.
Support legislative/policy communications and storytelling aligned with advocacy efforts.
Create and edit PowerPoint presentations, talking points, scripts, and messaging materials for internal and external use.
Ensure all content aligns with brand guidelines, voice, and plain language principles.
Maintain the organization’s digital media portfolio (social media, websites, and intranet) in coordination with the Marketing and Communications Project Manager.
Maintain editorial calendar and ensure campaigns deliver consistent, brand‑aligned messaging that drives engagement and supports organizational goals.
Ensure content is accessible, up to date, and optimized for SEO and readability.
Track and report on key performance indicators (e.g., email open/click rates, website traffic, social engagement).
Use analytics to refine campaigns and make data‑informed recommendations for improving communications effectiveness.
Monitor digital platforms such as Google Analytics, Constant Contact, and WordPress dashboards.
Partner with the Marketing and Communications Project Manager to align visual and written content for campaigns with branding efforts.
Provide content and digital communications support for internal and external events, ensuring consistent promotion, brand alignment, and audience engagement before, during and after each event.
Support development and fundraising by creating compelling scripts, donor communications, and post‑event summaries.
Support the SVP, Communications and External Affairs in business development activities by contributing to proposals, pitch decks, case studies, and external messaging materials.
