Summary An audit professional who leads and manages the planning, execution, and reporting of operational and performance audits for the California Department of Transportation and affiliated entities. This remote‑centered position offers a flexible schedule and requires travel for on‑site audits.
Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and direct audit staff to conduct operational and performance audits.
Provide leadership, project management, guidance, coaching, supervision, and training to audit teams.
Prepare audit reports and communicate findings to management and external agencies.
Ensure audits comply with auditing standards and internal policies.
Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of transportation funding and review processes.
Travel as required for on‑site audit activities.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Score on the Senior Management Auditor exam (or eligibility through list/LEAP/SROA).
Strong audit experience with knowledge of auditing standards.
Proven leadership and supervisory experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Valid driver’s license (required when operating a state‑owned or leased vehicle).
Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) – no more than 2 pages, 12‑point Arial, must be completed per instructions.
Special Requirements
Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required and must be submitted with application.
Unverified transcripts or foreign degrees must be accompanied by an equivalency evaluation.
