Job Summary The Maintenance & Reliability Manager leads the maintenance team, drives initiatives to improve equipment reliability, and ensures compliance, safety, and cost targets are met.
Responsibilities
Serve as a technical expert for all maintenance areas, providing analysis, recommendations, and oversight of initiatives targeting safety, compliance, production, equipment availability, and budget.
Lead the maintenance team in applying best practices to maximize equipment reliability and resource availability.
Institutionalize organized maintenance processes by driving planning, scheduling, and work execution.
Benchmark and perform gap analysis of procedures, practices, and performance measures.
Lead improvement initiatives identified through root‑cause analysis, compliance needs, growth, or cost reduction.
Develop departmental planning, budgeting, staffing, and vendor/contractor management.
Ensure maintenance objectives are completed on time and within budget.
Establish preventive, predictive maintenance tasks and work schedules.
Conduct root‑cause failure analysis and initiate corrective actions.
Optimize spare parts and equipment historical data management.
Develop equipment integrity plan aligning strategic planning, shutdowns, and maintenance activities.
Manage maintenance projects from concept to implementation.
Mentor and develop subordinates for succession planning.
Conduct cost/benefit analysis and present project justifications.
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and communicate with stakeholders.
Identify and manage maintenance constraints and opportunities.
Requirements
Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Experience in maintenance management, work management, and reliability programs.
7+ years in a heavy industrial environment.
5+ years supervising personnel, preferably in a union environment.
Work Environment
Frequent walking, standing, and sitting in manufacturing conditions.
Occasional lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.
60% office, 40% plant environment. On‑site position.
Compensation & Benefits California Salary Range: $135,000 USD – $160,000 USD. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. Benefits include health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, 401(k) match savings plan, and paid holidays.
