Base Pay Range $33.24/hr - $33.24/hr
Position Description
Processes bi‑weekly payroll through online payroll system.
Audits timesheets and overtime submitted by supervisors for compliance with regulations and labor contract provisions.
Computes retroactive pay as needed due to various circumstances (e.g., labor contract implementation, errors in prior payrolls, grievances and court actions).
Advises staff on payroll matters and employee benefits, answers questions and resolves problems regarding labor contract provisions, FLSA laws and administrative procedure.
Updates MUNIS system with current pay rates, employee data and account information.
Calculates adjustments based upon promotion, demotion, reclassification and step increases.
Tracks and updates leave balances.
Prepares correspondence, reports pertaining to personnel issues and compiles and maintains records and files.
Assists Human Resources with gathering background information, testing and onboarding new employees.
Conducts informal orientation sessions and exit interviews.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Course work in or experience in accounting.
Experience in payroll processing, using human capital management software to process payroll or equivalent of minimum class qualifications.
Additional Requirements
Skill and knowledge in using personal computer and related equipment.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of accounting; payroll processing (e.g., calculating payroll, employee withholdings, deductions, reporting & reconciliation, employer provided benefits, agency payroll charges, accrued leave disability buy‑backs, direct deposits, garnishments); legal terminology & processing of court orders. Skill in use of personal computer and Microsoft Office programs and use of human capital management software. Ability to deal with some abstract but mostly concrete variables; calculate fractions, decimals & percentages; use proper research methods in gathering data; gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things; handle sensitive inquiries & resolve complaints.
