The Government Affairs Manager will lobby for energy efficiency and related energy issues before the federal government. The successful candidate will help manage and grow two highly influential industry coalitions and support lobbying efforts for additional clients. This role offers a significant opportunity to shape national energy policy and engage directly with senior policymakers, industry leaders, and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
Advocate for energy efficiency and related policies and funding priorities before Congress and the Executive Branch. Organize, facilitate, and lead meetings with policymakers, agencies, and coalition members. Develop and implement advocacy strategies in collaboration with stakeholders and industry experts. Draft letters, regulatory comments, and client briefing materials. Monitor and analyze legislation, regulations, and federal funding opportunities. Track and follow up on meetings, action items, and client deliverables. Coordinate and co-lead internal coalition and client meetings. Support communications efforts, including drafting press releases and website content. Represent clients in meetings, industry conferences, and workshops. Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience in federal government affairs, policy, or government role Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in public policy, political science, government, or related field Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Oral advocacy experience and comfort speaking in varied settings to external audiences Skilled at strategic thinking and problem-solving Commitment to advancing energy efficiency and clean energy issues Ability to engage effectively in a non-partisan manner Salary range: $85,000 – $120,000, commensurate with experience Opportunity for performance-based bonuses Employer-paid SEP IRA Health insurance stipend Three weeks paid vacation, plus most federal holidays Cascade Associates offers competitive compensation, a collaborative environment, and opportunities for professional growth and leadership. This is a hybrid remote/in-person position requiring residence in the Washington, DC metro area. The Government Affairs Manager should expect frequent in-person meetings in Washington, DC, with occasional virtual engagements.
