Controller - Construction Company A Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania based Utility Construction Company is seeking an experienced and self‑directed Controller to oversee all financial and accounting activities. The successful candidate will manage construction accounting, financial analysis, payroll, forecasting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting, while working closely with senior management and corporate.

Responsibilities

Participate in the development of the company’s strategic plans.

Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.

Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including design of an organizational structure and maintenance of a system of controls over accounting transactions.

Ensure that monthly financial statements and WIP’s are prepared in a timely and accurate manner, and review them with the Division Vice President.

Monitor the financial performance of the company.

Review monthly cost reports with Project Managers, provide analysis on monthly changes, and identify potential cost issues on each project. Assist with the job closeout process to ensure all billings are complete and accurate.

Compile and analyze financial reporting packages.

Prepare monthly and annual operating budgets.

Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the company’s procedures.

Communicate financial metrics to senior management.

Provide leadership and support to job costing, payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable departments.

Facilitate cash‑flow management by ensuring billings are submitted in a timely and complete manner and in the proper form required by contract documents.

Track, in coordination with the Area Supervisor, supporting documents required for subcontractor payment (lien releases, insurance certificates, executed subcontract agreements); withhold payments until subcontractors are in compliance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

Minimum 5 years of controller experience at a construction company (essential).

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Computer literacy and knowledge of common software packages (Word, Excel, Access, etc.).

Impeccable analytical and organizational skills.

Self‑motivated and self‑directed.
