Summary The Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Hospital is recruiting for a Full‑Time - Permanent Physician (Pain Management Anesthesiology). The position reports directly to the Chief of Anesthesia Pain Medicine.
Qualifications To qualify for this position you must meet the basic requirements as listed below. Additional qualifications may apply. Applicants pending completion of training or license requirements may be considered but not hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements
United States citizenship.
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or the equivalent from a VA‑approved school.
Valid full and unrestricted medical license in a U.S. state, territory or D.C.
Completed residency training in an accredited core specialty that leads to board certification (ACGME or AOA). Residents in accredited programs may be assigned as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) under specified conditions.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Preferred experience in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine.

Physical requirements: VA Handbook 5019/1 Part II.
Duties
Assessment and pre‑operative evaluation for anesthesia.
Provision of anesthetic/analgesic care during surgical, therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
Monitoring and maintenance of homeostasis throughout the perioperative period and for critically ill patients.
Diagnosis and treatment of painful syndromes.
Clinical management, teaching and supervision of anesthesia, respiratory and critical‑care personnel.
Participation in research and quality‑improvement initiatives.
Administrative duties necessary for hospital, medical‑school and outpatient responsibilities.
Schedule: 40‑hour compressed tour with on‑call.
