Position Summary Join as a

Hospital Veterinarian II

at one of our Vetco Total Care Full Service Veterinary Hospitals. This immersive role involves lifelong learning, working with a multidisciplinary team and providing excellent patient care.

Essential Job Functions

Perform physical examinations, diagnose and treat diseases, and provide preventive care based on patient signalment, lifestyle and environment.

Use a problem‑based approach to develop a complete problem list, differential diagnoses, diagnostic plans and appropriate treatments.

Document patient observations, findings, treatments, medications and client interactions in the medical record with clear detail.

Perform routine and complex surgical procedures (spays/neuters, abdominal exploratory, mass removals). Perform routine and complex dental procedures (full exam, radiographs, extractions, oral surgery).

Develop treatment plans for day hospitalization, transition patients to overnight care and communicate with referral hospitals.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

Participate in rounds at the beginning and end of shifts.

Share knowledge to improve care and communication for staff, patients and clients.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Work Environment The role is primarily hospital‑based, requiring bending, kneeling, lifting of up to 30 lbs and standing for long periods. Frequent direct contact with clients and pets is essential.

Qualifications

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an AVMA‑accredited school.

Active state veterinary license in the state of the hospital or ability to obtain by start date.

Current DEA license and, if required, Controlled Substance license for the state.

USDA Category I veterinary accreditation or ability to obtain within two months of hire.

Proficiency in anesthesia, routine surgeries (spays/neuters, mass removals, dentistry).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a compassionate, professional demeanor.

Strong teamwork, adaptability and willingness to learn new techniques.

Proficient with telephone and computer use.
