Base pay range $70,161.00/yr - $93,935.00/yr

School Overview Over Drew Charter School’s twenty‑year history, the school has grown to serve grades PreK‑12 with nearly 1,900 students in a “cradle‑to‑college” pipeline, including two onsite early learning partners. Position Description The Human Resources Generalist role supports Drew by managing a wide range of responsibilities such as recruiting and onboarding new employees, managing employee benefits, administering HR policies and ensuring legal compliance.

Performance Responsibilities

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition

Assess staffing needs and develop innovative recruitment strategies

Source candidates through job boards, social media, colleges, and community partnerships

Screen applications, conduct phone interviews, and coordinate hiring processes

Attend career fairs and maintain relationships with teacher education programs

Create compelling job descriptions and provide positive candidate experiences

Employee Lifecycle Management

Facilitate onboarding for new hires, contractors, and partners

Manage offboarding processes and transitions

Conduct background checks and maintain I‑9 compliance

Oversee comprehensive employee record management

Handle HRIS data inquiries and updates

HR Operations & Compliance

Address employee concerns and conduct workplace investigations

Develop and document HR policies and procedures

Support worker’s compensation claims and accommodation requests

Collaborate with Payroll on absence processing and compensation

Manage building access and security badge administration

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Sourcing, screening, interviewing, and candidate assessment skills with knowledge of innovative recruitment strategies and talent attraction methods

Understanding of hiring regulations, I‑9 requirements, background checks, ADA accommodations, worker's compensation, and HR policy compliance

Experience with applicant tracking systems (ATS), human resource information systems, and access management platforms for accurate data management

Ability to establish and maintain partnerships with colleges, professional organizations, community groups, and internal stakeholders

Excellent written abilities for job descriptions and documentation, plus verbal skills for candidate interactions, employee inquiries, and investigations

Understanding of teacher certification, academic hiring cycles, and educational recruitment landscape with connections to teacher education programs

Capacity to manage multiple recruitment campaigns, onboarding processes, employee relations issues, and administrative tasks simultaneously

Skills in addressing employee concerns, conducting workplace investigations, and resolving conflicts to maintain a positive work environment

Ensuring compliance, maintaining comprehensive records, processing background checks, and managing confidential employee information securely

Providing positive candidate and employee experiences while customizing processes for diverse needs and staying current on HR trends through continuous learning

Solid communication skills for frequent verbal and written interaction with others

Promote cross‑functional collaboration and accountability

Education/Experience

Bachelor's Degree (B.A., B.S., B.S.N., etc) in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field and 4‑6 years work‑related experience OR

High school diploma and 6‑10 years of professional‑level HR experience with PHR, SHRM‑CP, CHRP certification

Preferred experience in K‑12 environment preferred

Certification

PHR, SPHR, SHRM‑CP, or SHRM‑SCP preferred

Compensation/Benefits

Salary Range: $70,161 - $93,935

Work Days: 242 (Annual)
