The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) is seeking a full-time Physician (Radiologist Diagnostic) who is committed to quality patient care, teaching, and research related to all functions of Radiology. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed physicians in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation. Basic Requirements

United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy Degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) or an equivalent degree from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs Current, full, unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state/territory/territory or the District of Columbia Residency Training: Completed residency in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification Approved residencies include: (1) ACGME-approved; (2) AOA-approved; or (3) other residencies followed by at least five years of verified practice in the United States Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA residency programs may be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs); PRPs must be fully licensed physicians and may be appointed on intermittent or fee-basis PRPs are not independent practitioners and will not be privileged; scope of practice limited and supervised Additional appointment options include practice experiences for surgery residents in gap years Proficiency in spoken and written English Preferred Experience: Board Certified or eligible in Diagnostic Radiology Experience with Body, Musculoskeletal and/or Neuro imaging or a recent fellowship in one of these subspecialties Experience with or willingness to be involved in Lung Cancer Screening is preferred Ability to interpret radiographs and perform fluoroscopic exams; ability to interpret examinations across multiple specialties is preferred Ability to cover Mammography or Nuclear Medicine is desired but not required Provide teaching and training for residents/fellows Reference: For more information, please visit VA Qualification Standards Physical Requirements: See VA Directive and Handbook 5019 Duties

Clinical and administrative management in Radiology; interpret radiological examinations using clinical data Provide follow-up and accurate diagnosis after imaging examinations Initiate timely interpretation and recommendations; modify treatment plans as indicated Maintain patient confidentiality and demonstrate professional conduct Act as a consultant for Radiology in developing and evaluating diagnoses and treatment plans; recognize need for consultations with other facilities Maintain clear, accurate, and current medical records in accordance with hospital regulations Resident and technologist education; review pre-procedure labs and protocol radiology studies Participate in peer review and quality management activities Participation in SAVAHCS committees such as the multidisciplinary tumor board Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Seniority level
