Salary Base pay range: $340,000.00/yr - $400,000.00/yr (actual pay based on skills and experience).
Summary The Samuel S Stratton Albany VA Medical Center has an opening for a full‑time Diagnostic Radiologist with mammography experience to perform a large spectrum of image guided procedures and provide a broad range of care to Veterans with complex disease and comorbidities within a patient centric model.
Qualifications
United States Citizenship: Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree
Degree from a U.S. approved school
Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, Commonwealth, or District of Columbia
Residency training approved by VA in an accredited core specialty program leading to eligibility for board certification
Physician residents in ACGME/AOA accredited programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) on a fee‑basis
PRPs must be fully licensed physicians
Proficiency in spoken and written English
Preferred experience: specialization in diagnostic and mammography screening
Physical requirements: sitting, standing up to 2 hrs, walking 2 hrs, heavy lifting 45 lbs, reaching above shoulder, repeated bending
Incumbent must be emotionally and mentally stable and capable of performing duties
Responsibilities
Deliver best‑possible care to Veterans and meet VHA national benchmarks
Collaborate with other clinical services in interdisciplinary conferences
Interact with patients to obtain relevant history and physical exam findings within the scope of radiology practice; provide education, obtain informed consent, issue disclosures, document in CPRS, enter orders
Provide clinical oversight of medication administration related to imaging
Interpret all breast imaging exams, report findings, discuss differential diagnoses, provide recommendations
Perform image‑guided breast biopsies
Consult with patients on results and recommend further testing
Use resources to maintain current optimal care, consult colleagues, research literature, maintain continuing education
Support academic affiliations and teaching programs
Ensure quality and compliance with hospital policies and VHA standards
Compensation and Benefits
Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid time off: 50‑55 days per year
