San Francisco Nursing Job Details
Location: San Francisco, CA 94109
Healthcare setting: Acute care hospital – Labor & Delivery Unit
Contract duration: 13 weeks (Start: 11/17/2025 – End: 2/16/2026)
Shift: Day shift, 3x12‑hour shifts per week (07:00 – 19:30)
Hours per week: 36
Weekend rotation: Required
Orientation: 36 hours
Patient census: 250‑300 deliveries per month
Unit size: 26 rooms, 20 beds
Estimated weekly salary: $2400 – $2570
Registered Nurse Qualifications
Active California RN license (required at time of submission)
Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate (all required)
Minimum 2 years of recent obstetric (OB) and high‑risk labor & delivery nursing experience
Previous travel nursing experience required
Epic EMR charting system experience preferred
Must pass on‑site EKG testing (≥ 80 %)
Ability to float to Mother/Baby and other CPMC locations as needed
Must be available for lab work within 3‑5 days of signing
Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities
Assess, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate nursing care for laboring patients in an acute care setting
Provide direct patient care, family education, and facilitate transitions of care
Develop and implement individualized care plans considering psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (physicians, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services)
Assist with high‑risk deliveries, C‑sections, and antepartum/postpartum care
Perform advanced labor & delivery nursing skills: fetal monitoring, APGAR scoring, medication administration, newborn assessment, and emergency interventions
Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EMR
Support breastfeeding and lactation, educate families, and ensure safe infant identification
Participate in weekend rotations and float to other nursing units as required
