Role and Focus

In the role of the

Regional Business Development Director , you’ll have the power of nearly 1,500 technical professionals focused on water, Earth’s ultimate resource. You are a focused, goal-minded individual and a natural connector of people, constantly developing strategies and identifying team synergies to solve the most complex client challenges. You are a polished professional with listening skills and the ability to maintain laser focus. As a leader within our program, you will build strong relations with HDR’s unique clients in the water planning and design industry, understanding their mission, vision, culture and goals to leverage our professionals to solve their challenges. This role focuses on net fee booked metrics to drive success and growth of HDR’s market share within nine states in the Southeast Region. You will drive current and future year bookings to meet plan and fuel growth across all Water Business Group market sectors in future years. You will report to the East Region Water Business Group Director and will maintain a strategic perspective to develop, maintain and communicate market sector initiatives and strategies to geographic operational business units in the region. The Regional BG Director coordinates, develops and supports the implementation of market sector strategic plans (four Market Sectors: Drinking Water, Federal Water, Wastewater, Water Resources) to identify, develop and drive opportunities to achieve goals and develop Major Campaigns and strategic pursuit opportunities for future years. Responsibilities

The following outlines the responsibilities for this role. The role is driven by execution of the Water Business Group Sector strategic plans within the defined Southeast geography, enabling the Regional BG Director to maintain the operational perspective necessary to execute the annual business plan. Path to Goal

– In coordination with Director of Business Development, identify, monitor and support attainment of Regional net fee booked plan using the Path to Goal concept to drive consistent communication across the Water organization. Strategic Client Development Leadership & Assistance

– Assist/Collaborate with Water leadership in the definition and engagement strategy for clients within the Region. Strategic and Sector Pursuit Leadership/Major Campaign Coordination

– Primary leadership of Major Campaigns in the $5–$20M range. Drive the identification, development and qualification of potential Regional Major Campaign opportunities. Strategic Initiative Development

– Engage Market Sector/Area Client Development staff in development and execution of key market sector initiatives identified during strategic planning and alignment meetings. Alignment of Resources

– Coordinate the alignment of internal resources to client needs and Path to Goal. Secondary Responsibilities

NFB and Marketing Cost Tracking

– Monitor and communicate progress toward period and annual net fee bookings goals. Work with operational leadership to observe trends, adjust projections and modify plans to achieve year-over-year goals and cost targets. Other Initiatives



Strategic Planning

– Assist in development of annual strategic planning effort. Controlling

– Assist in monitoring operational metrics for the Region as required. Staffing

– Assist in prioritization of strategic hires and recruitment of candidates. Location

– This position can be located in any established HDR office in the defined Southeast Region. Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications Local candidates are preferred Experience in developing and supporting implementation of growth strategies Proven ability to develop and manage the marketing and business development teams in the Southeast Region (North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia/Alabama, Kentucky/Tennessee, and Florida/Puerto Rico) Required Qualifications A minimum of 15 years relevant industry experience Demonstrated self-starter with a history of completing projects with limited oversight Deep knowledge of the A/E/C industry’s standard approach to procurement of professional services Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire others Demonstrated ability to build a network of clients and industry partners Experience in sales and developing effective win strategies Strong financial acumen and negotiation skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint Ability and desire to travel and engage with others in person Demonstrated experience in growing programs in new or highly competitive markets Demonstrated experience in winning high-value contracts in the A/E/C industry Demonstrated experience in writing compelling content based on information from technical staff What We Believe & Commitment
