Summary First Security Bank is seeking a professional, energetic, and team‑oriented individual to join our team as a Retail Banker. The Retail Banker accepts and processes transactions from customers by personal contact, mail, and nighttime deposit.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

High school diploma or GED required.

1‑2 years of post‑secondary education and/or cash handling, customer service, relevant banking, or professional experience preferred.

Position begins as a Retail Banker with intent to promote to Retail Banking Specialist as skills are mastered.

Proficiency with Outlook, Word, typing, 10‑key, and internet utilization required.

Willingness to demonstrate Core 5 values with customers and coworkers.

Hours of Availability Regularly Scheduled Hours/Week: 35‑37 Hours Monday‑Friday 9:30 am – 5:30 pm. Saturday Rotation: 8:45 am – 12:15 pm (typically 1‑2 per month). Extended working hours may be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Process deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, issue cashier’s checks, and cash checks, ensuring proper ID, following retail policies and procedures.

Examine deposited checks, determine proper funds availability, complete hold notices, and identify counterfeit currency.

Visually review customer transactions, verify necessary information, and maintain accurate records.

Count and balance cash, buy/sell currency from the vault, and ensure drawer limits are not exceeded.

Receive mortgage, consumer, and other loan payments and promote bank services following cross‑selling procedures.

Adhere to opening and closing procedures, secure coins and currency in the vault, and lock cash drawers and safes.

Maintain currency and coin supply per bank policy, process coins into the vault, and balance coin machines.

Assist with night deposits, mail deposits, and ATM deposits.

Complete Currency Transaction Report (CTR) and Suspicious Activity, Identity Theft, Red Flag (SIRF) forms as needed.

Inform management of activity and resolve outages or discrepancies.

Assist internal customers and executive management with special requests, lifeline services, and safe‑deposit box procedures.

Balance ATM and main cash vault as required and offer quality customer service via phone and in‑branch inquiries.

Identify fraudulent transactions, review concerns with management, and stay informed on suspicious activity.

Obtain training to execute wire transfers and maintain strict privacy regarding customer account information.

Operate internal bank software, telephone, scanner, and copier with proficiency.

Hold a valid driver’s license, have reliable transportation, and be willing to extend working hours when necessary.

Attend retail training classes as assigned and perform additional duties as directed by management.

Upon Successful Training of Duties Listed Above Develop the specialized Retail Banking Specialist skills necessary to acquire experience in additional retail services:

Build consumer and business customer profiles.

Process debit cards upon request.

Assist customers with name/address changes, account maintenance, reconciliation, or complaints.

Update identification.

Open and close accounts.

Handle debit card disputes.

Physical Demands The employee must demonstrate adequate visual acuity, articulate well in person, over the phone, and in drive‑through service. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move around a standard office setting is required. Repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movements may occur while handling currency and operating office equipment.

Mental Demands The role requires attention to detail, accuracy in brief periods, calm and patient customer interaction, confidentiality, basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide), and the ability to read, interpret documents, and draft routine written communications.
