Nature of Work Under general supervision at the full‑performance level, this position performs professional accounting work. The role involves reviewing accounting books from state agencies for conformance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and acting as a consultant to agency personnel preparing entries. It also includes related work as required.
Examples of Work
Process, approve, and pay draw/payments for loan and grant programs for WV WDA and WV IJDC.
Reconcile WV WDA and WV IJDC accounts and programs.
Assist in the preparation of annual GAAP‑based financial statements.
Assist outside auditors in the annual audit by providing WV OASIS reports, bank statements, loan files or other information as needed.
Prepare daily reports and journal entries to fund payment requests for entities receiving grant and loan funding from WV WDA and WV IJDC.
Prepare monthly reports containing total number and amount of binding commitments, loans closed, loans fully distributed, and under‑construction projects.
Maintain, scan, and organize active and closed project files.
Minimum Qualifications
Training:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; optionally up to 24 semester hours in accounting. Preference may be given to applicants with CPA certification, a Master of Professional Accountancy, or a Master of Business Administration.
Experience:
One (1) year of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid experience in preparing or auditing GAAP‑based audited financial statements or maintaining accounting systems that support GAAP audit preparation, including substantial experience with applicable software.
Substitution:
Graduate coursework in the above areas may substitute at a rate of fifteen (15) semester hours for every one (1) year of required experience.

Salary: $50,000 – $65,000 annually
