Controller
Responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and managing day-to-day accounting activities. Leads a team of 6 accountants and works closely with senior management to ensure accurate financial reporting, strategic planning, and operational efficiency. Plays a key role in developing internal controls, financial policies, and managing external audit relationships, with clear career growth potential from Controller to VP Finance or CFO.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all accounting functions, including financial reporting, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax compliance.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial and cost reporting in accordance with GAAP.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 6 accountants and other finance professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.
Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accurate financial reporting.
Coordinate and liaise with Tax and Audit Specialists during annual audits and tax filings; ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations for multiple states.
Oversee cash management, liquidity, and financial planning to ensure adequate funds are available for operations.
Continuously review and improve accounting processes, systems, and controls to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
Strong technical skills (ERP, HRIS and other software).
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and revenue recognition.
Strong financial analysis skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Working knowledge of income tax and sales tax laws.
Preferred Qualifications
7+ years of professional accounting experience.
Experience in a construction industry.
Experience dealing with multi-company and multi-state environment.
