Senior Relationship Manager, Individual Giving
Child Focus is seeking a passionate individual to join the staff as Senior Relationship Manager focused on Individual Giving to support its transformative work supporting victims of child abuse and neglect. This position is ideal for an experienced development professional with a passion for making an impact on the child welfare and foster care systems in NJ. The Senior Relationship Manager plays a key role in strengthening and expanding the base of individual supporters for Child Focus. The position leads individual donor fundraising efforts, including acquisition, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute strategies to attract new individual donors, including digital campaigns, peer‑to‑peer fundraising, and targeted outreach. Identify and qualify prospective mid‑level and major donors to expand the giving pipeline. Manage a portfolio of individual donors, ensuring regular and meaningful engagement. Create and implement stewardship plans that deepen donor loyalty and increase retention rates. Partner with Communications staff to prepare donor impact reports, appeals, and recognition materials. Personally solicit gifts from mid‑level donors; support the Executive Director with preparation for major donor asks. Develop customized cultivation strategies for donors at different giving levels. Monitor donor‑giving patterns to identify opportunities for upgrade and special engagement. Lead individual giving components of annual campaigns (direct mail, digital, workplace giving, recurring donor programs). Collaborate with the Development Operations & Events Manager to ensure effective donor data management, campaign execution, and donor recognition. Participate in donor‑facing events and represent the organization in the community. Build relationships to result in event or organizational sponsorships. Contribute to the overall fundraising strategy, aligning individual giving with organizational goals. Provide donor relationship insights to staff leadership and the Board. Maintain accurate records of donor interactions in the CRM. All staff members are required to complete the pre‑service training for Court Appointed Special Advocates and serve as an advocate for a minimum of one case. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree a plus. 5+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience with a track record in individual giving, donor stewardship, and solicitation of 5‑figure and larger gifts. Strong relationship‑building skills enabling robust donor engagement that inspires generosity and long‑term commitment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to execute dynamic donor engagement and fundraising strategies that involve planning, problem‑solving, and adaptability. Experience managing a donor portfolio and moving donors through the cultivation cycle. Familiarity with donor databases (CRM systems) and fundraising technology. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and the mission of supporting children and families in the child welfare system.
