We are seeking a skilled Linux System Engineer with strong hands‑on experience in Linux OS administration, patch management, and system automation. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of enterprise Linux environments, with exposure to OpenShift and Kong API Gateway as added advantages. This role involves maintaining and optimizing Linux servers, automating operational tasks, ensuring system security, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to support enterprise applications and platforms.

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Jacksonville, FL is $105-110K year & benefits (see below).
The Role Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers across development, testing, and production environments.
Perform Linux OS patching, upgrades, and security hardening in compliance with enterprise standards.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve operating system, performance, and application‑related issues.
Write and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Python, or Ansible to streamline system administration tasks.
Manage and monitor system performance, resource utilization, and uptime to ensure reliability and availability.
Collaborate with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to deploy and optimize applications running on Linux, OpenShift, or Ansible Tower.
Support TWS (Tivoli Workload Scheduler) operations and scheduling automation.
Implement and enforce security policies, vulnerability scanning, and patch compliance across all systems.
Maintain detailed system documentation, configuration baselines, and change management records.
Provide incident response and root cause analysis for OS‑level and platform‑level issues.
Required Skills and Qualifications
5+ years of hands‑on experience as a Linux System Administrator or Engineer.
Strong knowledge of Linux OS (RHEL, CentOS, or Ubuntu) including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Proven experience with patch management, including repositories, YUM/DNF, and automated patching tools.
Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash); working knowledge of Python is a plus.
Experience with system monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana).
Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, routing).
Familiarity with Ansible or Ansible Tower for configuration management and automation.
Strong understanding of security best practices for Linux environments.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with OpenShift container platforms (deployment, scaling, and troubleshooting).
Knowledge of Kong API Gateway configuration and management.
Exposure to DevOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, CI/CD pipelines).
Understanding of TWS (Tivoli Workload Scheduler) job automation and orchestration.
Experience working in cloud or hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
