Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic

Pay Range

$28.13/hr – $32.82/hr

Summary

The incumbent to this position is a fully journeyman level air conditioning mechanic who has a universal certification certificate covered by section 608 of the Clean Air Act for the purpose of proper refrigerant usage. Certificate must be from an EPA approved agency. The incumbent is responsible for the complete maintenance, repair, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of all air-moving conditioning and refrigeration equipment located within this facility.

Qualifications

  • Experience: No specific length of training and experience required, but must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality.
  • Evidence of knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties must be supported by detailed descriptions on resume.
  • Screen-out element will be evaluated first; applicants meeting minimal qualifying standards will be considered for rating.
  • Rated against the remainder of job elements: equipment assembly, installation, repair, interpret instructions/specifications (including blueprint reading), materials, technical practices, troubleshooting, use and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Experience includes paid, unpaid, and volunteer work such as National Service programs (Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations.

Duties

  • Install, troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance, and repair all HVAC&R equipment and controls.
  • Repairing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and installing air conditioning equipment in the hospital and ancillary buildings.
  • Installing, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining refrigerators, freezers, and ice machines for patient food, drugs, laboratory specimens, and blood products.
  • Operate and repair all aspects of the environmental control system including adding and removing points, building graphics, modifying and troubleshooting programming, repairing and replacing sensors, actuators, and control devices, and repairing and replacing LAN devices such as terminal equipment controllers.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and make repairs to a large variety of equipment and systems that provide a variety of air‑conditioning functions (heating, cooling, humidification, dehumidification, air cleaning, filtering, and circulating).
  • Work schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am‑4:30 pm.

  • Ability to distinguish basic colors.
  • Ability to distinguish shades of colors.
  • Hearing (aid permitted).
