plays a vital support role in the successful execution of construction projects. Working under the guidance of the Project Manager and Superintendent, the Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating project documentation, facilitating communication among stakeholders, and managing information flow across all phases of the construction process. This role ensures that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality and safety standards. Overview

Responsibilities

Preconstruction & Planning Attend and document client kickoff meetings. Review drawings and specifications for accuracy and completeness. Support early-stage planning efforts including conceptual, schematic, and design development phases. Assist in compiling historical project data and input for internal benchmarking. Procurement & Buyout Coordinate and support the subcontractor bid process. Assist with creating bid lists and distributing project documentation. Develop and define bid scopes (general and trade-specific). Participate in scope reviews and bid leveling. Track RFIs related to buyout and manage logs accordingly. Prepare and issue Notices of Award. Enter contract data into CMiC and generate subcontracts and purchase orders. Maintain project directory and collect certificates of insurance (COIs). Document Control & Information Management Set up and maintain Procore project files. Manage RFI and submittal processes from submission through closure. Track material submittals and procurement using status reports. Take and distribute project meeting minutes. Maintain audit-ready records and decision documentation. Coordinate document control from project initiation through closeout. Assist in monthly cost reporting, tracking, and forecasting. Validate subcontractor invoices and align with progress. Support the Project Manager in executing change orders and tracking logs, including drafting and submitting owner change orders and subcontractor change requests and tracking time & materials (T&M) work and allowances. Maintain accurate logs for trade and owner allowances. Project Administration Distribute project documentation to team members and subcontractors. Prepare weekly meeting minutes (internal and client-facing). Support jobsite setup including site office/trailer logistics. Organize digital project folders across platforms (e.g., Procore, Smartsheet, shared drives). Serve as a liaison between office and field personnel. Field Coordination Provide on-site support to the Superintendent. Assist with field-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs). Help coordinate commissioning and validation activities. Support daily jobsite documentation, QA/QC processes, punch list tracking, and regulatory inspections. Maintain permit logs and support Certificate of Occupancy procurement. Update project and look-ahead schedules as needed. Safety Compliance Assist with monthly safety inspections and reporting. Distribute inspection reports and follow up on deficiencies. Support Superintendent with project safety documentation and hospital/facility permitting (PCRA, ICRA, ILSM, etc.). Organize and manage subcontractor safety documentation. Project Closeout Assist in setup, execution, and documentation of project closeout plans. Collect and transmit all closeout documentation from GAGE and subcontractors. Qualifications & Experience

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred. Experience:

Entry-level; prior co-op, internship, or construction-related work experience preferred. Familiarity with reading construction drawings and supporting field observations/documentation. Communication:

Strong verbal and written communication; effective listener and detail-oriented writer. Technology Proficiency: Required: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint). Preferred: Procore, Bluebeam and Smartsheet. Organization:

Able to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records, and meet deadlines. Problem-Solving:
