The Role Working as an Electrical Module Design Release Engineer (DRE) can provide one with a strong foundation of leadership skills. The Electrical Module HW DRE is responsible for definition of requirements, execution of design, analysis, development, testing and management of engineering projects for Electrical Module Components where creativity, initiative and independent judgment are involved. Additionally, the Electrical Module DRE provides technical direction over a Product Development Team consisting of engineers and engineering support personnel. Responsible for the technical project management and design release of a wireless charging system. This includes managing supplier timing; running PDT meetings; issue investigation and resolution; ensuring part deliveries to benches, vehicle retrofits, and assembly plants.

Responsibilities

Create and maintain Interface Control Design (ICD) strategy and ICD templates

Develop & Maintain commodity specific documentation

Generate and Maintain Global subsystem/component technical specifications templates (SSTS/CTS)

Lead resolution of technical issues

Close the Loop on learnings by updating required information and documenting progress in Problem Resolution Tracking System

Lead/manage supplier resident engineers

Support sourcing activities

Generate technical solutions for current, new and major programs

Perform complex design analysis

Initiate documents to provide engineering authority and to maintain math/CAD data

Work with engineering functions, suppliers, plant personnel and others to implement cost reduction, methods and product improvements, and to support build programs

Required Qualifications

BS in Engineering, Physics, Math, or Computer Science

2+ years of related experience

Product development

Electronic Modules

Knowledge of microcontroller architectures, memory technologies, and programming

Understanding of hardware design and failure modes in electronic modules

Knowledge of vehicle serial data communications

Demonstrated proficiency in writing and comprehending software/hardware requirements

Knowledge of software verification/validation processes

Knowledge of testing and associated tools

Capability to translate text based functional requirements into software algorithms and models

Preferred Qualifications

DFMEA training

Knowledge of software algorithm design and software architecture

Engineering Change Management Experience

Electronic Validation Experience

DFSS Black Belt Certification

Vehicle Communication Tool Experience

Wiring experience

Design/Development of Safety Critical Systems/Components

Top Skills Advanced Engineering Principles & Theory:

This includes a deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering depending on the commodity. Must be able to apply engineering knowledge to design, feasibility analysis, and technical integration across projects.

Cost Control & Performance Reporting:

Ability to prepare and present cost-benefit analyses, track performance metrics, and manage resources effectively. This requires both analytical skills and business acumen to align engineering decisions with financial goals.
