Position Summary The Department of Molecular Biosciences (MBS) at the University of South Florida (USF) is seeking applications for a 9‑month, full‑time, tenure‑earning faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of bacterial pathogenesis. The expected start date is August 7, 2026. Appropriate disciplinary specialties may include the molecular study of bacterial pathogens, antibiotic resistance, drug development, host‑microbe interaction, and omics approaches.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a strong, externally funded research program in bacterial pathogenesis.

Contribute to the education of undergraduate and graduate students.

Collaborate across the College of Arts and Sciences and the broader USF community, including with departments of Chemistry, Physics, and centers such as the Center for Antimicrobial Resistance.

Qualifications

Ph.D. degree from an accredited institution in Microbiology or a related discipline.

Postdoctoral experience and a proven track record evidenced by a robust publication record.

Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.
