Data Modeler – Manager – Consulting – Miami/South Florida

– Lead our data modeling team in designing and implementing complex cloud analytics solutions focused on Databricks.

Key Responsibilities

Understand and analyze business requirements to translate them into technical specifications.

Design, build, and operate scalable data architecture and modeling solutions.

Stay current with emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge.

Lead design and development of conceptual, logical, and physical data models for the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) using Kimball dimensional methodology.

Design and implement star schemas (Fact and Dimension tables) to support enterprise analytics, BI, and reporting with high performance.

Define and model Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD), emphasizing SCD Type 2, to preserve historical context.

Determine appropriate grain for fact tables and identify measurable facts and their relationships to surrounding dimensions.

Design highly denormalized dimension structures to reduce joins and simplify querying.

Collaborate with stakeholders to design data models aligned with business needs.

Create and maintain data dictionaries and metadata repositories for consistency and integrity.

Identify and resolve data model performance issues to optimize database performance.

Manage and provide guidance to a small team of 1–3 resources.

Document and communicate data model designs and standards across the organization.

Develop detailed source-to-target mapping (STM) documentation and data transformation specifications for ETL/ELT developers.

Incorporate industry best practices and new techniques into our data modeling processes.

Guide the team on implementing techniques such as Kimball’s dimensional modeling.

Develop conceptual, logical, and physical models to support data analysis and BI.

Utilize industry-standard tools (Erwin, PowerDesigner, ER/Studio) for modeling and version control.

Cloud knowledge and certification (e.g., Azure DP-203) is an advantage.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in STEM.

10+ years of hands‑on experience in data modeling.

Strong understanding of SQL and Kimball dimensional modeling.

Experience with major enterprise relational database platforms or cloud data warehouses (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server).

Deep knowledge of data warehousing principles, ETL/ELT architecture, data quality, and metadata management.

Mastery of SCD Type 2 implementation, familiarity with other SCD types.

Ability to translate complex business processes into efficient data models.

Proficiency with modeling tools such as Erwin, Visio, or PowerDesigner.

Experience designing and implementing database structures.

Ability to maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models.

Knowledge of industry best practices for data modeling and database design.

Collaboration skills with cross‑functional teams to gather and analyze data requirements.

Performance tuning and optimization of database queries.

Cloud certification is an added advantage.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Knowledge of the Hospitality Domain is mandatory.

Competitive base salary ranging from $125,500 to $230,200, with higher ranges for major markets.
