Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of conceptual, logical, and physical data models for the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) following Kimball dimensional methodology.

Design and implement star schemas (fact and dimension tables) to support enterprise analytics, BI, and reporting with high performance and query efficiency.

Define and model Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD), emphasizing SCD Type 2 to capture historical data accurately.

Collaborate with stakeholders to determine the appropriate grain for fact tables and identify measurable facts and relationships.

Design highly denormalized dimension structures to reduce joins and simplify querying.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand data requirements and design appropriate data models.

Create and maintain data dictionaries and metadata repositories to ensure consistency and integrity.

Identify and resolve data model performance issues to optimize database performance.

Manage and provide guidance to a small team of 1‑3 resources.

Document and communicate data model designs and standards across the organization.

Create source‑to‑target mapping documentation and data transformation specifications for ETL/ELT developers.

Stay current with industry best practices and incorporate new techniques into data modeling processes.

Guide the team on implementing Kimball’s dimensional modeling techniques.

Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support data analysis and BI.

Utilize industry‑standard data modeling tools (e.g., Erwin, PowerDesigner, ER/Studio) and manage version control.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in STEM.

7+ years of hands‑on experience in data modeling.

Strong understanding of SQL and Kimball dimensional modeling concepts.

Experience with major enterprise relational databases or cloud data warehouses (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server).

Proficiency in data modeling tools such as Erwin, Visio, or PowerDesigner.

Mastery of SCD Type 2 implementation, with familiarity of other SCD types.

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Experience in performance tuning and optimization of database queries.

Knowledge of hospitality domain required.

Preferred: Cloud certification (Azure DP‑203) and Spanish/Italian speaking.
